Camerawork Gallery presents Five Fingers
This is a rare Portland-area showing of work from Janis’s Five Fingers Project
His unique photo illustrations depict the stories, myths and archetypal dreams he recorded from Africa’s most remote tribes. Anthropologists tell him that he is the only person to have recorded the stories presented in the show. Interwoven within the work are life lessons he learned during the 18-year project.
Come to the Artist’s talk to hear his adventures from the Africa journeys, including a roaring lion sauntering past his little tent one night, why a guide wanted to kill him, the advice a remote tribal elder asked Jānis to tell world leaders and learn who inspired him to call the entire project We All Have Five Fingers.
