The Tour Books have it Wrong
We’ve made it. Our dusty white Land Cruiser popped over one last mega bump in the single-lane road and there we are on a saddle-like ridge between monster jagged green mountains rising on three sides. Turgit. We camp here because they have a faucet shower.
One thing, however, must be corrected right away. These people prefer to be called Suri. Ulrike, the resident German-born linguist teacher explained that the locals think that “Surma”, the common name found in tour books, is derogatory. So it’s Suri.
